This initial design for a ranger and research station for the Amazon Rainforest Conservancy is currently on hold due to land purchasing issues. There are still plans for the project to resume, and having this campus will be crucial to keep the land protected from illegal gold mining and deforestation.

About the Design:

The design includes a ranger station and watch tower, a research center and meeting space, a kitchen and storage facility, three VIP cabins for donors and visiting researchers, and sleeping and bathroom spaces for the researchers and rangers. The construction will use all local materials and implement a water catchment system onsite. The goal is to create simple, adaptable buildings that will be easy to repair and maintain over time.

About ARC:

Amazon Rainforest Conservancy (ARC) protects threatened tropical rainforest habitats in the Peruvian Amazon to conserve and restore the biodiversity of species and ecosystems for the benefit of future generations. ARC currently helps protect 146,000 hectares (360,000 acres) of pristine old growth rainforest in the Amazon lowlands. In 2022, ARC is expanding with projects in the cloud forests and headwaters of the Amazon basin. This will allow us to protect a wider biodiversity of plants and animals, and especially endangered species and the wildernesses they call home.
