Hello!

My name is Rachel Rimmer. I am a designer in Saint Louis, MO. An Oregon native, I studied architecture & interior design at University of Oregon, supplemented with theater set design courses. After receiving my BArch in 2019, I moved to Los Angeles to work for Walt Disney Imagineering as an architectural designer for Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Since the pandemic began, I have worked in a variety of fields including international non-profit design, seasonal guiding in national parks, and dancer theater. I currently work as an architectural designer for PGAV Destinations.

My greatest passion is storytelling. Whether through architecture, writing, movement, etc. I love to create immersive, experiential environments that inspire imagination. We’ve all heard and seen stories that we wish we could enter; as a designer, I want to bring those stories to life.

When I am not at work, I am likely out hiking, backpacking, dancing, making stained glass, or listening to a musical.

Multidisciplinary Design

Architecture

I received my professional’s degree in Architectural Design, with a minor in Interior Design. While in school, I worked on a number of projects ranging from historical adaptive reuse to brainstorming how informal settlements can organically respond to climate change.
Professionally, I have worked on interior renovations in Montana and civic and educational design in Arizona.

Nonprofit & Performing Arts

I have worked for a variety of nonprofits in various roles.
As a designer, I have worked for 100 Fold Studio working on architectural design-build projects for international nonprofit organizations.
As a volunteer, I have worked on the masterplan design for a Ranger & Research Center in the Peruvian Amazon for the Amazon Rainforest Conservancy.
As an arts enthusiast, I have worked as the Marketing and Events Coordinator for Ballet Fantastique, a dance theater company producing all original live shows and ballet movies.

Entertainment Design

While in school, I developed an interest in entertainment design. I took set design courses that taught me the history of the art and trained me to create detailed scale models.
After graduating, I went to work for Walt Disney Imagineering and collaborated with a multidisciplinary team for Tokyo Disneyland Resort.
My work at Ballet Fantastique allowed me to plan events that encouraged guests to enter into the worlds of our shows and immerse themselves in the creative, original dance theater stories.
My current work for PGAV Destinations allows me to design guest experiences for zoos, aquariums, theme parks and museums.
